Jiayue is currently a sophomore at Washington and Lee University from Nanjing, China, majoring in Global Politics and minoring in Mass Communication and Studio Arts. Back in summer 2017, she interned as an assistant editor of the Yangzi Evening News for three months and published several articles, which allows her to get a closer touch with diverse international news and inspires her to further pursue a possible career of being a political journalist. At W&L, she not only serves as the international student mentor aiming to strongly support up-coming international students, but also acts as the event coordinator of Student Association for International Learning dedicating to address international issues within the school.
Through her experiences, Jiayue deeply understood and acknowledged the cultural, economic, and political differences between the United States and China. As a Newsletter Deputy Manager at UCBRC, Jiayue is looking forward to writing a wide variety of newsletters from different perspectives and engaging into diverse events hold by UCBRC to help foster a better image of US-China relations among the public.
