Celine Sui is freelance writer based in Seattle, mostly writing on Sino-African relations. Her reporting on the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese state media in East Africa, and Chinese businesses in Africa have been published by Foreign Policy, Quartz Africa, South China Morning Post, SupChina, and elsewhere. Celine is interested in East African post-colonial history. She studied Swahili with Professor Mugane at Harvard University and is assisting him to develop a Swahili language learning program for Chinese speakers. She’s currently a senior at Forest Ridge High School in Washington state, where she dreams about seeing Maasai Mara’s giraffes sometimes soon.
